Francois Hollande So Elected President of France

After the French people to vote in Presidential Elections (Election), the second stage which took place on Monday (07/05/2012) morning, Francois Hollande candidate of the socialist camp managed to outperform its rivals, the French president, Nicolas Sarkozy.

Francois won the vote as much as 52 percent, while Sarkozy is only getting 48 percent of the vote.

In his speech after elected, Francois said he was proud to be able to give hope to the people of France. He said he would work hard to immediately realize the promise of his campaign, the EU fiscal fix to the growth of savings.

"Europe is watching us, the savings can no longer be the only option," said Francois, as quoted by the BBC.

After a speech at his headquarters, Francois immediately greeted supporters at the Place de la Bastille. "I am the president of the youth of France. It is you that will drive progress across Europe," he said.

Some European leaders immediately called to congratulate Francois, among others, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister David Cameron.

Angela even sent an invitation directly to Francois for a visit to Germany as soon as possible.

Francois won its popularity, because of its promises about the economic revival of France. The decline of economic differences make Nicolas Sarkozy lost his popularity.

Francois promises to increase taxes for large corporations and citizens of France who have incomes in excess of one million euros per year.

He also promised to raise the minimum wage, raised 60 000 teachers and lowering the retirement age from 62 to 60 years for certain workers.

Meanwhile, Nicolas Sarkozy accepted his defeat and called on all French citizens support Francois. "Francois Hollande is the President of France and he should be respected," said Sarkozy, saying he was taking responsibility for this defeat.
