Cairo - Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak reportedly in a coma in a Cairo prison hospital, according to CNN. Defibrillators have been used several times to revive Mubarak "because of heart complications," said Adel Saeed, a spokesman for the prosecutor.
"Mubarak entered a full coma. Two of his son, Gamal and Alaa, appealed to prison authorities to move in next to him and has been accepted," said ministry spokesman Alaa Mahmoud. "His health has deteriorated since the verdict, with high blood pressure, respiratory problems and irregular heartbeat."
Gamal and Alaa Mubarak is now in prison, facing charges of insider trading and money laundering.
Mubarak, 84, was sentenced to life imprisonment on June 2 on charges of murder of pro-democracy demonstrators last year. Mubarak has suffered health problems after the resignation and attend court on crutches.
Mubarak described the condition of the former attorney strongman as "highly critical."
"I visited him on Saturday and he lost consciousness three times. There the water is concentrated around the heart, which can progress to a heart attack or blood clots in the brain. He needs a rescue operation within 60 minutes," said lawyer Fareed El Deeb.
El Deeb said prosecutors had refused his request to transfer Mubarak from prison to a military hospital. El Deeb said the prison hospital facilities are less equipped to deal with Mubarak care.
"They still bring an X-ray machine on a Saturday during my visit, and no special care," said El Deeb. "I think prosecutors and government officials in charge if he died because of negligence. They're just trying to please the revolutionaries and the Muslim Brotherhood to keep him at the hospital."
Prosecutor's spokesman said the prison authorities to follow the laws of Egypt to ensure that "all the medical support provided to all patients."
Last Wednesday, a spokesman for prosecutors said Mubarak's health deteriorated, and he used the ventilator several times.
