TOKYO - A 80-year-old man was in the examination in Japan on Wednesday on suspicion of strangling his wife and put her body in the freezer for almost 10 years, according to media reports and police.
Masaichi Yamada, who runs a fish processing company, was detained at the port of Kushiro on the northern Japan on Tuesday morning when it was discovered a corpse that has been frozen and still wearing clothes.
"The suspect strangle the victim with something like a rope in their homes and put them in the freezer at work," according to a police spokesman in Hokkaido, told AFP by telephone.
Could not be immediately known when the killing is done, the officer said, adding she would be 71 years old if still alive today.
Yamada admitted fault to the police for the murder of his wife during a dispute at their home between 2002 and 2006. He brought her body to the factory by car.
Police search for the plant after the woman's brother said he could not contact his sister for several years.
